If you're wondering why you clicked on a picture of Maho to get here, your answer is here. ^.~ But not here, below here. Anyway, Kylara-chan did not design this particular layout, lol, she left that to Yumi (you'll notice this one mirrors hers... sort of). But when Kylara took it for her part, she modified a few things :) Kylara-chan deeeeeeeeesu! ^.~ To the right, you can see Yuzuki, who is, er, well, x'd out. ^_^ That would be because although I got her on a Chobits character quiz, I am noooooooooooooooooooooooooooothing like her. She's sweet, kind, hard-working, gentle, good at cleaning-cooking-housekeeping, and, well, a persocon >.> I would've been happier getting Shimizu-sensei... oh, well, at least I didn't get Hideki >.>
Want to read my blog?
[Warning: read only if you have a fairly sensible sense of humor. I mix fact and odd little exaggerations in here – I sincerely hope you’ll know that I’m joking if I say I’m an eleven-year old actress with a pimp.]
As you no doubt have already pieced together, I am not what you would call a calm person. (I’m currently listening to Kodomo no Omocha “Bura Bura Seijin”; what did you think?) I make people nervous just by being around them. (No joke – you should see what happens during oral presentations. Heh.)
My real name is not Kylara. >.> Kylara is not a very, er, Korean name, and I doubt my parents even had heard of it when they were naming me. As it is, my real name is Evil Evil Evil, so I rarely mention it online and won’t do so now. As for this one, it came about a few years ago when I was picking my AIM name (this was in the age when you didn’t need to tack on numbers longer than two digits), I happened to pick Kylara because I was in an Anne McCaffrey phase. Never mind that Kylara happened to be the most devious, nastiest woman in the books. (My favorite character was Lessa, actually.) However, I chose the name anyway because I thought it sounded rather nice. ^.~ As states somewhere in the first book, it’s pronounced “Kill-ar-ah”. As time went by and I dropped my fanfiction names that were specifically geared toward one anime, I ended up referring to myself as Kylara on my mailing lists and other places. Sometime in 2001, I started to write fanfiction again after a very long hiatus (three years, to be more specific), and Kylara was the most logical choice.
BUAHAHAHAHA! THERE ARE ALIENS ABOVE MY HOUSE!
Just in case you were getting too at ease.
Like Michael from Marmalade Boy, I slowly learn Japanese from watching television. Although I’m not quite into the samurai movies he was obsessed with, I am obsessed with anime (what, you didn’t know?) and have learned quite a bit. I personally don’t like dubs, so I watch everything subbed – although if the show’s language is fairly simple, I can manage to watch stuff raw. (Although I am liable to interpret “she loves my sister’s son” as “my son loves my sister’s girlfriend”.)
I’ve got two older sisters, one of whom floats around online as an immortal spirit. Quite scary. Kind of like the third ghost on Christmas Eve. (Bah, humbug. Yes, peppermint, all you Harry Potter people…) She runs www.haneoka.net, of which I have no part of and remove myself from entirely. >.> Yes, I'm kidding. I’m both condemned and blessed as the youngest, and one of the blessings is that nee-chan advises me on all Websites, Graphics, and Everything Else. ^.- Gotta love her.
MY OTHER SISTER IS A SMELLY BUTT. -_- Okay, not really, but it's more fun to say that she is. She's a pretty little thing and is currently training in flower arrangment and tea ceremony at a boarding school in Japan. >.>
She'll have no idea what that means, so I guess I'll re-state myself. She drives me around, takes me shopping, and is generally my neat older sister... and is, in reality, attending medical school, although the thought of her and a scapel is kinda creepy. Ah, well, she's good with kids... as long as they're not immediately related to her. ^.~ She and Joan are the strongest influences in my life, and have been for the past ninety years of my life... although as I get older, I take less and less from them, so we have very individual personalities. (That doesn't stop our teachers from calling ME by THEIR NAMES when I have them... -_-)
I like books, a lot. I like writing, a lot. I want to be a professional writer, so it probably helps that I like writing and that I like books. I plan to major in English when I get into university (I've got high hopes for UCSD). Lately, I’ve been addicted to Extremely Trashy Romance Novels, but I do have an appreciation for classics. I’ve got all of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books sitting on my bookshelf (what else did you think I meant by classics? XD) next to the four Harry Potter books, with the Goblet of Fire leaning against the complete works of Jane Austen. Sitting underneath Jane Austen is Matilda; if you don’t like Roald Dahl, you were never a child. Clan of the Cave Bear is sitting on top of my five year old Nintendo 64. Don’t ask why, it just is.
My birthday is – two days after May Day, two days before Cinco de Mayo. If you want to give me a present, please consider a living Nagoya Chiaki? *_* He is HOT. I happen to be a Tanemura Arina freak, so Sakataki will do as well. Or Hizuki. Or Noin. Heck, even Silk is a bishounen. Give me all of theeem!
I’m older than the traditional age for most shoujo manga heroines, but given how large the age range can be sometimes, by the time you figure it out I’ll be past the age for most shoujo manga heroine’s mothers.
At a sleepover the other night, I presented a question to two of my friends (one of which was Yumi) as to which anime character fit each of us best. For some odd reason, my friends couldn't pick one for me :P so I picked one for myself, and that would be Izawa Maho from the fantastic manga Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou. She is not the best of her class (that would be Yukino), but she's damn near it, plus being sarcastic and prickly and sweet, too. Maho is far more perfect than me (and better looking), but if anything, she is the sort of person who I would like to be. (Yumi ended up with Mizuki, if you couldn't tell, for certain reasons ::coughs:: Yumi-chan, how 'bout you clarify why in your profile... BUAHAHA)
Yumi is a childhood friend, unfortunately. Shall I tell you all her impression of me when we first met in fifth grade…? “Hey, it’s a little Korean schoolgirl!”
Kylara: ....
Granted, I was a bit of a nerd (COUGH COUGH), but I enjoyed it ^^ It was just the concept of being called one :P since that's what "little Korean schoolgirl" amounts to eventually -_-
I am a serious person at heart (or perhaps that’s just my Mind Speaking To Me), but it’s generally not necessary to be serious (serious people have a tendency to freak out people in my age bracket), so for the sake of trying to be social... I content myself with being extremely weird. If any other aspects of my personality show up anywhere else, that would be in my fanfics. Angst and comedy are my two favorite themes (especially if combined with romance because I am a sap for ai); if asked to choose one, I’d probably choose the former. And people wonder why I like Kikyou so much.
[For the record, a lot of those guys are really hot *_*]

I had Sapporo-Ichiban ramen for breakfast. That says something about my eating habits. I’m craving a bag of hot cheetos, and it’s two in the morning. That says something else. I have a dog named Atta, who you can see to the left -- she was born March 2000, part jindo, part mutt :P -- and I used to have a very sweet and well behaved dog named Happy, who I'll scan in later -- we put her to sleep March 2000 after her living with us for over fourteen years. Several days after, we ended up with that monster to the left (my house doesn't seem comfortable without some sort of canine), who only looks innocent there because that's right after her nap and she's still a bit groggy. Atta and Happy are COMPLETE opposites, but that doesn't stop my mom from referring to Atta as "Happy" (maybe her name just became synonymous with 'dog'). Atta looks kinda teeny in that picture, probably because I had to drop it down to 25% of original size... let's put it this way. I'm about 5'4, and when she jumps on me, her front paws are just an inch or two short of my shoulders. So she's not THAT small. (It's horrible when we go hiking - she sees a bird and VOOM, she's gone, and so am I -_-)
Hum, how about some basic stats?

Most Recently Read Good Book: Possessions - A Romance by A.S. Byatt, which, despite its trashy-sounding title, is a wonderful modern classic (and that is NOT an oxymoron :P). Got made into a movie (typical hollywood puts SEX everywhere), but the book is very subtle and good. It won the Booker prize in 1990 ^.^

Authors
Aino-kaachan: Another writer who I discovered through Inuyasha fanfics - she's got this amazing way of writing that completely befuddles me o.o I first read her stuff through her IY fanfic "Waters of the Night", which is really brilliant ^^ my favorite one of hers, though, is "A Tempest of Lilies". She's also a popular Rurouni Kenshin writer - I haven't read her epic "Autumn Shadows" yet, but I've read all her one-shots and I'm in awe o.O
Antigone: I think I first read her fanfics yeaaaaaaaaaars and yeaaaaaars ago in the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon world. In my opinion, she is one of the best fanfic writers that I have ever read and will ever read. My favorite of hers is "Without Darkness There Can Be No Light" which is angst-angst-angst... in recent years, she's moved into Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (which is a fantastic anime and manga), and Harry Potter! ^^ Absolutely wonderful writer.
Lilac Summers: Classic, classic CLASSIC Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon writer. Half of the BSSM cliches that exist today weren't cliches six years ago, and it was with her that some of these ideas began and were copied. She's the original, first class stuff, baby ^^
Suppi-chan: One of my all-time favorite authors ^^ I actually started reading D.N. Angel because I noticed she had fanfics for it and I wanted to read them XD She writes wonderful fics for a bunch of different anime and manga - notably, Card Captor Sakura, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Rurouni Kenshin, and some original fics ^_^
Tin: Whenever I think of Suppi-chan, I think of Tin (and vice versa), probably because I think the two are friends and kept referencing each other in early CCS stories. I have no idea who I read first, but Tin is an a-ma-zing author (sometimes I think her prose will kill me), and she writes everything on the planet so I won't even bother listing ^_^ I subscribe to her ML, but she also has a fanfiction.net profile that's listed somewhere underneath that site. At any rate, she's pretty famous for her Rurouni Kenshin fanfic, "Of Love and Honor", plus some of her CCS ones (the "Yamasutra" was hilarious), but I personally like "Blue Nights", a Flame of Recca fic. ^_^ Tin is also one of the few people that writes fanfics for Hanazakari no Kimitachie, which is a fantastic manga. [And NO ONE writes Legend of Basara. Sigh.]
Natsuki: I don't really know anything about this author o.O But she writes some really amazing Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne manga-based fanfics (plus a good Vision of Escaflowne one, too) - just read her stuff, dang it.
Ashfae: I think I started reading her stuff at a Sanosuke-Megumi archive (I still love her "Fire" series), but she's an all-around good writer ^^ I really like her Rurouni Kenshin stories... she also has some funny Ranma ones, too ^^ Reeeeeead.
Ace Sanchez: You know, I considered for awhile buying a ticket to Australia, buying a gun, and putting it to Ace's head and forcing him to finish "Pokemon Master". Yes, pokemon. I had an obsession with this when the gameboy game came out (I own Blue, Yellow, and Silver versions, plus Pokemon Stadium for N64, teehee!), and I happened to start reading this about four years ago. Then, there were eleven chapters done. He finally posted chapter 12, the final chapter, this year (thank GOODNESS), although I don't really blame him since he had a lot of RL problems during this time. Whatever the case, he writes some funny Pokemon fanfics, as well as Ranma... and sometimes they can be rather perverted, but he's still a funny writer ^_^ One of the few male fanfic writers that I read out there... not that there are a whole lot to read as it is.
April Rayne: A BSSM writer. She surprised me because she debuted in a time where the really good BSSM writers were dropping out (either into RL or other genres), and she didn't write cliches. I deep-linked directly to her page since if you try to go through her entrance page, there's a zillion broken links ^^ It's worth it, however, since she's written some sweet Serenity-Endymion and Usagi-Mamoru fics, including an alternate reality epic called "The Game is the Mystery", which is VERY good and NOT DONE -_-
Kris Mercado: Like April Rayne, this author is AMAZING. o.O "That Tangible Something" is one of my all-time favorite one-shots - if only we could all write that well ^^ She's an usagi-mamoru writer (which I was a sap for years ago), and IMO one of the best ones in the "new wave" of BSSM writers that debuted after the mid nineties. I believe, actually, that she hasn't posted her own fanfics on this site yet, so until then, hit up Moonromance.com for her stuff (look underneath "M" in the library, then skim to Mercado).
Spatula Girl - She wrote one interesting BSSM senshi-generals fic (good ones for those four couples are hard to find), plus some interesting Vampire Princess Miyu ones. ^.~ Go, go.
Just a note. I'm listening to the CCS drama tracks...
[syaoran eats the chocolate Meiling gave him, begins to gag]
Stories
Between the Lines - by Harukami - A Slayers fic that I liked bunches - it's Xelloss-Filia, who are my favorite couple in that particular anime (although I like L/G and Z/A too). Basically, Filia gets smashed and Xelloss shows up, to, er, take advantage >.>
Picture on the Wall - by Blacklightning42 - I'm not quite sure why I like this, since I usually don't like stories where the characters have suicidal tendencies o.O Xelloss-Filia, extremely good.
Run to You: Tales of Meiji 16 - by Arashi - Epic Rurouni Kenshin fanfic. Ships towards Sanosuke-Megumi, so I love it ^^ Aside from that, when I read it, I feel like I'm watching the show ^_^ Very well-done, still going as of today.
The White Dog - by Becky Tailweaver - Another epic, this time for Inuyasha. I don't think any IY fanfic maniac is really a fan if she or he hasn't read this ^.~ Centered around the extended demon family of Inuyasha, his relationship with Kagome, and himself.
Away from Me - by Moonklutz - It always confuses me - why the heck does a story like this only have three reviews? WAFF-y Inuyasha-Kagome songfic story. Well-written, plus I'm a fan of those jellies.
Nine Men and a Little Lady - by Kielle - BUAHAHA. I got so sick of Mary Sue's in Harry Potter and every other fanfic genre - I'm guessing so did the Lord of the Rings fanfic people. Makes fun of all Mary Sues, although specifically ones in LotR. Reccommended to me by Queen ^^
She Moves In Mysterious Ways - by Kit Spooner - A Shampoo/Mousse fic [or you could say Xian-Poo/Muu-Tzu :) ] that involves mistletoe and a thoughtful Mousse. Ranma fanfic ^^
Public Relations - by Gabi-hime - o.O This is Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer stuff - it's pretty darn funny. Misaki learns about Oujirou's dark, secret doujinshi habit >.> On that note, I saw some Sango-Miroku hentai doujinshi on one of my mailing lists the other day that made my eyes burn @.@
Light Flurries in the Clear Night Sky - by Ina-chan - This is a very interesting fic... it's Hime-chan no Ribon, an anime & manga that's sweetly romantic and funny. This is a Daichi introspect, manga-set in the later volumes.
Pale Reflection - by Scott Schimell - Another Hime-chan no Ribon fanfic, one with a unique and somewhat bittersweet twist. It'll spoil it if I describe it, so ^^ very nice.
Cold Sea - by Kalen - This always struck me as odd, ever since I first read it, but I rather like it ^^ Shiina's cute, after all, despite the BIG UGLY YELLOW EYE, and I like her/his/its interaction with Miyu (Shiina yelling at Reiha in that alley is one of my all-time favorite sequences in anime). Shiina introspect from the TV of Vampire Princess Miyu.
If you HAVE read these stories before, you know now what type of authors and stories I like. Angst and comedy, romance (a lot of those are romance), short and epic. You also probably know by now what type of couples I ship for ^^ and what anime and manga I like. You've also seen my dog, fluffy and annoying and the slightest bit smelly (no, I don't love her at all). I hope you enjoyed reading about me, even though it was a scary experience ^_^ Goodbye for now, and I hope you have fun looking at the rest of the site! (Unless my instincts are right and this is the very last thing you wanted to read ^.~)
^_^ Now, here are my fanfiction author & story recommendations... click on the author's name to go to some sort of site with his or her fanfics - all stories open up in individual windows. Listed in no particular order, just in the order I thought of them. I did not actually _post_ these stories, so that's why it's okay that I didn't ask for permission ^_^ These are some of my favorite authors and stories out there, although I KNOW I missed some -_-
Queen: I'll just start off with her since she's my beta reader ^_^ Probably no one was more thrilled than me when Queen volunteered to beta-read one of my new Inuyasha fanfics -- and somehow, she got roped into beta-ing a bunch of my new ones o.O She is the writer of "Kami Monogatari", a very-very interesting and well-written IY fanfic - this would be the first fanfic I read by her, although she's written a bunch of other Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon and Inuyasha fics. I really adore her BSSM/IY crossover, "Of This World and Yesterday", but all her fanfics are well-written ^^ she's got a really sweet IY-ofukuro fic up, too, so go read :P
Syaoran: ... s-salty...
Meiling: WHAT? WHY IS THE CHOCOLATE SALTY?
Syaoran: It's nast... N-no.. it's, er... very... good...
Meiling: Noooooooo, I worked so hard on it! I failed! I really can't do anything!
Syaoran: ... w-water...
[sound of someone collapsing]
Meiling: YAAAAAA! SYAORAN, SYAORAN! DON'T DIEEEEEEEE!
Syaoran: ... w-water, w-waterrrr...
Meiling: SYAORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!
^_^ Sorry for the interruption, I thought that was amusing.
That's it for authors, so here are individual stories. Obviously, if I listed the author I'm not going to list a story by them ^^ so here goes.
Four Degrees of Romance - this happens to be an old Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon archive that my sister made once - it was invitation only. These fanfics are all stories that I love, too, so go read them ^^ They're all Usagi-Mamoru, by the way. One reason I put this here is because my sister has a fanfic posted here >.> Hers are really good, but she took them off the net ::sigh:: Anyway, reaaaad!
Those are my fanfic reccommendations XD Don't be annoyed if you weren't listed -- maybe I missed you. ^_^ At any rate, you might be wondering why I spent so much time doing this (because trust me, it was a LOT OF TIME). Well, these are fanfic authors that I respect; they wrote a good story. Sometimes it's meaningful, sometimes it's light-hearted fluff, but they were all stories that I enjoyed, all authors whose works I loved. ^.~ I don't always review stories (bad me), so this is the best type of tribute that I think I can give. Anyway, I hope that you go and read ALLLLLLLLLLL of the fanfics and authors I recommended, because they deserve as many people to read their stories as possible.
